Bell sponsored driver David Reutimann outran Carl Edwards and Jeff Gordon to win Saturday night’s LifeLock.com 400 at Chicagoland Speedway. Reutimann outdueled Gordon in an entertaining side-by-side race for the lead with 54 laps left in the race and then outran Edwards easily to cross the finish line first. Reutimann had made 42 runs since his first NASCAR Sprint Cup win more than a year ago in Charlotte. He has raced in 118 Cup events.
“No rain tonight,” Reutimann said in victory lane. “We earned this one. Nobody gave it to us, and it feels really good.“I heard so much stuff for winning a rain-shortened event. Everybody said we didn’t earn it. I don’t know what they can say about this one.” Edwards rolled home second, followed by Gordon, Clint Bowyer and pole winner Jamie McMurray. Among those having problems on what was a difficult night for several drivers were point leader and Bell sponsored driver Kevin Harvick, who finished 34th, and champion Jimmie Johnson, who limped home 25th. Harvick’s point lead over the second-place Gordon dropped to 103. David Reutimann wears the Bell Infusion Top Air helmet in NASCAR competition.
