Bell Racing recently introduced an FIA 8858 kit that can be ordered with the purchase of a GP2 or GT2 helmet. The kit includes the FIA specified Hans anchors and an FIA 8858 label that will go on the back of the helmet to confirm certification. The FIA 8858 kit can only be installed on the GP2 and GT2 and must be done so by the manufacturer when the helmet is ordered. The part number for the kit is 2017915 and the retail price is $119.95 which includes the FIA 8858 label, Hans anchors and installation on a GP2 or GT2 model. This will allow customers to use these helmets outside of the United States in FIA sanctioned events that require helmets to be certified to the FIA 8858 standard. The FIA 8858 standard requires the helmet manufacturer to install Hans anchors in locations specified by the FIA which in some cases are slightly different than the standard location instructions provided by Hans. Helmets certified to the FIA 8858 standard have to be independently tested and accepted by the FIA. The GP2 and GT2 with the FIA 8858 kit can be ordered through Bell dealers.
