David Reutimann wins the Coca-Cola 600, his first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series victory in a rain-shortened race as officials call the event after 227 of the scheduled 400 laps. Running 14th, Reutimann and crew chide Rodney Childers gambled and decided not to follow the leader onto pit road during a caution for rain 22 laps past the half way point. Reutimann claimed the lead and ran five laps under yellow before NASCAR stopped the race because of rain and later called the race giving Reutimann his first victory. “It wasn’t the prettiest win, but somebody has to win,” Reutimann said. “Rodney Childers made a great call and told me to stay out. When you envision yourself winning your first Sprint Cup race, you envision it different. But it’s so hard to win these deals; we’ll take it any way we can.” Originally scheduled to begin on Sunday, the race was postponed until Monday and was stopped three times due to rain. In addition to Reutimann, Bell drivers finishing in the top ten included Carl Edwards 4th, Brian Vickers 5th, Kasey Kahne 7th, Joey Logano 9th and Matt Kenseth 10th. David Reutimann wears the Bell Infusion Top Forced Air helmet.
