
Johnny Benson won his third consecutive NASCAR Craftsman Truck Race on Saturday, August 9 at Nashville Superspeedway. Benson started the race in 16th and drove through traffic to land in the 4th spot. After his first pit stop, Benson found himself in 12th. On lap 65, he took his second stop and restarted in 25th. He was able to gain track position when he took fuel only while most of the field pitted.
With 23 laps remaining in the contest, Benson restarted in fourth once again. After a battle, Benson was able to, make a pass in turn one of the final lap to win his third consecutive Craftsman Truck Race, the fourth of the season and the thirteenth of his career.
"I didn't think it was possible with 10 laps to go, to tell you the truth," Benson said. "I knew Darnell was going to be tough. I had a really hard time passing the [Bodine], he was running strong, too. Then, I saw [Bodine] sliding around and I was able to get by him. I worked on Darnell and was able to get to Victory Lane."
Johnny Benson currently leads the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Points Standings.
