Carl Edwards Wins Sprint Cup Race at Pocono

Carl Edwards won Sunday's Sunoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500 at Pocono Raceway.  The win marked Edwards' 4th win of the series in 2008 and the 11th of his career.

Edwards and his crew chief, Bob Osborne, made the decision to pit on lap 128 when rain caused a caution on the track.  The decision came after Edwards and Osborne had a tense discussion over the radio.  Edwards gave up the lead as 19 cars on the lead lap chose to stay out.  The caution became a red flag that caused a 41 minute delay in the race.  Had the race ended due to the rain, the risky strategy would have failed.

"Bob and I were really arguing," Edwards said. "I was really nervous that we made the wrong call there. But Bob Osborne is just real smart. I'm really proud of him for the strategy. Bob did a really good job -- but I wasn't so sure when we were yelling at each other about halfway through."

Racing resumed on lap 131 and the green flag came out on lap 135. When the leader pitted on lap 188, Edwards was able to take over the top spot once again for the win.

Edwards wears the Bell Vortex Top Forced Air.
