Ron Fellows won the first wet-weather race in NASCAR's Nationwide Series on Saturday, August 2 in Montreal. The race took place at Circuit Gilles Villenueve and was run on Goodyear rain tires for the first time in NASCAR's history. The NAPA Auto Parts 200 was scheduled for 74 laps, but was called after 48 laps because the conditions were too dangerous.
Fellows made a pit stop for both fuel and tires after 22 laps. The stop pushed him to 26th place but he was able to push forward and take the lead on lap 44. When the final caution of the race came, Fellows held a 43 second lead.
"That was difficult," Fellows said as he climbed from the No. 5 Godaddy.com Chevrolet. "We've had a little bit of that over in France with the Corvette at Le Mans. But this was good fun."
The win is Fellows' fourth in the Nationwide Series, and his first win at a track other than Watkins Glen International.
Finishing in second was another Canadian and Bell driver, Patrick Carpentier. Carpentier drives for Gillett Evernham Motorsports.
Fellows wears the Infusion Top Forced Air.
