Bell driver, Ana Beatriz, made history on Saturday, July 12, when she became the first female driver to win a Firestone Indy Lights event. Beatriz overtook her Sam Schmidt teammate, James Davison, on lap 33 of 77 and held on for her first win of the series.
"I just can't be more thankful for Healthy Choice/Sam Schmidt Motorsports for bringing me to the U.S. (from Brazil)," said Beatriz, "I thought I would win at St. Pete; we were almost there.
"I'm with the best team and they have so much information on oval. I won my first race on an oval. It's amazing." Prior to Saturday's win in the Sunbelt Rentals 100 at Nashville Super Speedway, Beatriz had finished third at Watkins Glen International, Iowa and at St. Petersburg.
Beatriz began wearing Bell in June of this year. "I think I got much faster since I got my Bell helmets! 3 podiums in 4 races!!! 1 win! Amazing!" commented Beatriz.
Saturday's win was the 10th race in the series for the Brazilian driver.
