The Michael Ross Memorial Foundation held their 11th annual Golf Tournament and Summer Nationals in Sedalia, MO the second week of June. Overall, the events raised $110,000 to donate to the Bay Cliff Health Camp in Big Bay, MI. "When the totals came in we were very pleased to announce a donation to Bay Cliff for $110,000," Ross said. "In the 11 years we've hosted the tournament and race, the MRMF has raised over $1,150,000 for Bay Cliff. It is amazing how much we've been able to raise for the camp and I can't express enough how thankful I am to all of those who helped and participated in these events."
The Michael Ross Memorial Foundation was founded in honor of Tony and Kathy Ross's son, from American Compressed Steel. Michael passed away due to complications from tay-sachs disease. The Bay Cliff Health Camp is a six-week summer camp that benefits severly handicapped children. The funds raised by the MRMF eases the financial burden of the children's families. Donations have been used to provide new wheel chairs, crutches and other equipment that may be needed to participate in camp activities.
"This Camp is a very special place and is something we all believe in. Each year we try to raise the bar and beat the previous year's totals and that goal gets harder and harder to match every year," Tony Ross said of this year's donation.
Participants in the race includes drivers from the World of Outlaws, NASCAR and the NHRA. The program included a full World of Outlaws line up, the 360 Winged Outlaw Warriors and the MRMF Modified Celebrity Race. The Celebrity race featured Clint Bowyer, Gary Scelzi, Donny Schatz and Brady Bacon. Schatz won the event. Drivers and members of the media were also encouraged to compete in the MRMF Golf Tournament.
