Dan Wheldon celebrated his 30th birthday with a win in Sunday's Iowa Corn Indy 250. Wheldon took the lead on lap 190 when the leaders pitted during a caution. He was able to stretch his fuel even further during two additional caution flags. Wheldon led the final 60 laps of the race.
"What a great day for Target Chip Ganassi Racing and a great birthday present for myself," said Wheldon. The win is Wheldon's second this season and he sits one point behind Helio Castroneves in Championship points.
Wheldon and teammate, Scott Dixon, donated their winnings of $60,000 to flood relief organizations which benefit the flood victims in Iowa. "My wife and I drove from Chicago to here and we saw the flooding and it was just heartbreaking," Wheldon said. "I thought it was something that Scott and I should do, and fortunately we were able to."
Andretti Green's Marco Andretti finished in third.
